UBOS PAYS 88.7BILLION TO 114,327 CENSUS ENUMERATORS

Uganda Bureau of Statistics has so far paid 114,327 census enumerators out of 115,846 enumerators hired to conduct 2024 Population and Housing Census exercise, UBOS Executive Director Dr Chris Mukiza revealed.

In a media briefing in Kampala Mukiza said this amounted to shs 88.7billion.The census was 99%supported by government of Uganda with a total of shs 328.74billion.

UBOS conducted the National Population and Housing Census in May and preliminary results indicated atotal population of 45.9million people.

Giving accountability onnthe funds used during census exercise Mukiza further revealed tgat shs 59.6 billion was used for training of national trainers, training of district trainers, shs 2.78billion and training of sub-county trainers shs 5.87billion and training of enumerators and supervisors shs 53.01billion.

Mukiza however assured those not yet paid to be patient as the Bureau makes corrections on their census details for payment.

“The Uganda Bureau of Statistics would like to assure the public especially those whi have not received thsir payment that all efforts are being put towards ensuring that every one is paid,”he said.
” We are working closely with Officials of the lical government especially the district and cities to ensure that the pending field participants are all cleared for payment. The Bureau would like to emphasize that all participants in the census enumeration will receive their entitlement directly through mobile money or bank account presented in one’s individual names, “Mukiza stressed.

Mean while UBOS is currently processing and analysing raw census data to the village level of which final results will be disseminated at the end of September.

New Undertakings

UBOS has embarked on Post Enumeration survey aimed to validate tge quality of census results in terms of coverage and content.
This is in line with International best practices of cibducfijg nayionsl population and housing cebsus this August in all 15 districts andb11 cities.
This survey exercise is estimated t9 cost shs 3.9billion.
The post enumeration survey targets all persons who spent the preboius night innthe household of the enumeration area, those who spent night in hospitals, bars, discos.

“UBOS would like to appeal to the house holds innthe sampled villages to cooperate with field staff to ensure accurate captyre of information. All LC cgairpersons are encouraged yto mobilise their respective selected villages to enhance full enumeration coverage, “Mukiza said.
