UPDF TO HOLD INAUGURAL ARONDA NYAKAIRIMA MEMORIAL LECTURE AND SECURITY EXHIBITION

In recognition of late Aronda Nyakairima contribution tothe country, Uganda People’s Defence Forces will hold Inaugural Aronda Nyakairima memorial lecture and security exhibition this September the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has announced.
According to Muhoozi Nyakarima event is slated to take place from September 10th to 12th with the first-ever Kampala Defense and Security Expo and a Memorial Lecture that will be presided over by the President of the Republic of Uganda.
According information available organising committee members include Lt Gen James Mugira – National Enterprise Corporation CEO, SFC Commander Maj Gen BD Mugisha, Maj Gen James Birungi – Defense Intelligence and Security chief, Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba – Chief of Joint Staff among other senior UPDF officers.
General Nyakairima, who passed away in 2015, is fondly remembered for his role in defeating insurgency groups including LRA, Karamoja cattle rustlers among others.
He served as the Chief of Defence Forces from 2003 to 2013 and was the Minister of Internal Affairs at the time of his death.
The event is line with UPDF recent launch of its state of art head quarters to transform the face of Defence.
Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, officiated at the ground-breaking ceremony for constructing the State-of-the-Art Joint headquarters of the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs and Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces in Mbuya.
“It is of strategic importance that the MoDVA headquarters are accommodated in a modern and comfortable setting. This directly contributes to the operation efficiency, coordination, and capabilities of the UPDF. Our new headquarters will incorporate the latest technology and infrastructure to support a modern defence strategy,” said Gen Kainerugaba.
