Pan-Africanists under their umbrella organization Pan African Pyramid have launched the formation of a united visa-free Africa, where citizens can travel freely without restrictions dubbed the “United States of Africa (USA)”
Founded 2016, the Pan-African Pyramid is an intellectual non-partisan discussion forum built on the Pillars of PAN-AFRICANISM, PATRIOTISM and NATIONALISM whose Ideal/pre-occupation is to REVIVE intellectual discourse among the youths with a bias of re-constructing our lost Pan-Africanism, patriotism and Nationalism Values and spirit.
The Pan-Africanists remarkable launch was witnessed by Bishop Joshua Maponga, a Zimbabwean philosopher advocated for a single currency to facilitate business transactions across the continent.
Bishop Maponga emphasized the need for ease of movement across countries, saying this can boost businesses, tourism, educational and economic opportunities.
“I have four passports, all mine, but the pages are finished due to visa requirements. We need to open up our borders for business, tourism, education, and economic opportunities,” he said, adding; “I also have different African and Caribbean countries’ currencies, this is a nightmare that we face on a day-to-day basis particularly some of us who are frequent travellers.”
The Chairman and Speaker of the Pan-African Pyramid, Mr Andrew Irumba reiterated the call for young people to embrace the spirit of Pan-Africanism saying this will preserve the values and traditions of our culture as Africans.
“The first country in Africa to get independence from our colonial masters was Egypt in 1922, when they were getting independence, they thought they would unite us as one country in Africa and move forward to protect their resources. It’s now 102 years, and the reasons they fought the colonialists are still very alive,” Mr Irumba remarked.
Irumba also unveiled the official hashtag for the realization of the dream; #UnitingAfricaByForceNow, which he urged all Pan-Africanists involved in this movement to adhere to whenever publicising the campaign.
