UBOS SET TO RELEASE FINAL CENSUS RESULTS THIS OCTOBER

Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), is set to release final Uganda Population and Housing Census results for 2024 this October this website has learnt.

UBOS released preliminary population results indicating Uganda’s population of 45.9million in June following asuccessful 2024 census enumeration exercise in May.

The census results will be released ahead of Africa Statistics Day celebrations slated for this November.

The National Chief Statistician Dr Chris Mukiza says celebrating Africa Statistics day provides the platform to underscore the significant contribution of official statistics in the entire planning and development processes.”

“Africa Statistics Day celebrations offers stakeholders the opportunity to appreciate the value of quality data but also to challenge the process of data production bearing in mind the continuous technological changing trends in statistical production,”Mukiza stressed.

” It is high time we become innovative to ensure timely data is available, accurate and ensure quality of Statistics to inform planning,policy formulation and evidences based making, he added.

According to available information the Bureau paid a total of sh88.7 billion through E- Cash platform to all enumerators and service providers.

The Uganda Bureau of Statistics is an agency of the Ugandan government. Formed by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics Act, 1998, the agency is mandated to “coordinate, monitor and supervise Uganda’s National Statistical System”

The Bureau’s core business includes, among others, the Production, Coordination and Dissemination of official statistics to support development processes at local and national government levels, including policy, planning, decision-making, monitoring and evaluation.
