Smart City launched in Fort Portal.

MTN Uganda has pledged to equip Fort Portal City with advanced digital services, enhancing the city’s transformation into a smart city.

Speaking during the inauguration of the Smart City Initiative at the Bridge Institute of Information Technology in Fort Portal today, MTN Uganda’s CEO, Sylvia Mulinge, said the company is committed to supporting the city authorities with the necessary technologies to realize their vision for a digitally empowered future.

She said MTN Uganda committed to ensuring that every Ugandan enjoys the benefits of a modern connected world.

Alex Ruhunda, Member of Parliament for Fort Portal City and founder of the Smart City said the initiative was inspired by MTN Uganda’s ongoing efforts to revolutionize Uganda’s digital infrastructure.

Albert Ahebwa, Speaker for Fort Portal City, welcomed MTN Uganda’s support, noting its critical role in enhancing the city’s administrative functions.

He expressed confidence that the partnership would enable the city authorities to develop accurate budget estimates, moving away from the current reliance on approximations. This shift is expected to foster more effective planning and improved service delivery for the residents of Fort Portal.
