Married to Pryce Okuyo Cindy says she desires to have four children but her husband wants more.

“I am planning to have more children. I would like four children, but my husband wants more, like ten,” she said.

Popularly known as Cindy Sanyu, the musician and songwriter was born on August 28, 1985, in Kampala and her music journey is characterized by resilience, talent, and an unwavering passion for her craft.

Her early years were infused with a deep love for music, nurtured by her family’s appreciation for various musical genres.

Cindy’s formal education played a pivotal role in shaping her artistic journey. She attended primary and secondary schools in Kampala, where she not only excelled academically but also actively participated in school choirs and musical events.

It was during these formative years that Cindy’s musical talents blossomed, laying the foundation for her future success in the industry.

Cindy’s breakthrough in the music industry came in the early 2000s when she joined the acclaimed Ugandan girl group Blu3.

As one-third of the trio, Cindy’s dynamic vocals and charismatic stage presence propelled Blu3 to the forefront of the Ugandan music scene, garnering widespread acclaim and a dedicated fan base. With hits like “Hitaji” and “Frisky,” Blu*3 solidified their status as one of East Africa’s premier musical acts, earning numerous awards and accolades along the way.

Following the group’s disbandment in 2009, Cindy embarked on a solo career, eager to explore her artistic potential and carve out her own musical identity. Her solo debut album, “Ayokyayokya,” released in 2009, showcased Cindy’s versatility as an artist, blending elements of Afrobeat, dancehall, and R&B to create a unique and infectious sound. The album spawned several chart-topping singles, including “Mbikooye” and “One and Only,” further cementing Cindy’s status as a bona fide solo artist.

Cindy is astaunch advocate for women’s rights and empowerment and has made various social causes, using her platform to effect positive change in her community and beyond.
