The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) is set to release preliminary National Population and Housing Census 2024 in july, this website has learnt.
According to UBOS road map provisional results will be released in September and final results in December 2024.
UBOS kicked off enumeration on 10th May for 10 days however it was extended to May 25, 2024.
UBOS Executive Director and Census Commissioner, Dr. Chris N. Mukiza, thanked local government officials, supervisors and enumerators for great work despite many challenges.
Mukiza however clarified on the extension that aimed at ensuring that everyone was counted and no one was left behind.
“We would to that all local government officials and census enumerators for thorough work during census exercise. We managed to do 99% coverage of all households and individuals,” Dr. Mukiza explained.
According to him, the census exercise, which began on May 10th faced some challenges, including login difficulties and incomplete listing during mapping, which affected some enumeration areas.

The population of Uganda stood at 49.25 million in January 2024. Data shows that Uganda’s population increased by 1.3 million (+2.8 percent) between early 2023 and the start of 2024. 50.4 percent of Uganda’s population is female, while 49.6 percent of the population is male.
