In a move aimed to raise funds for the disadvantaged public, Information Technology, Electronic Products and Machineries Manufacturing Communication (INTEPMMAC) in partnership with Linda Country Club Kampala have invited American Music star Jason Joel to perform at their Hiv/Aids music concert.
According to INTEPMMAC Executive Director Arafat Igibolu, the event is scheduled to take place on 29th September this year.
“Jason Derulo wlll set his foot in Uganda on Friday 27th September, 2024 and he shall receive a special welcome. After that, he will make a profitable exercusion to Mulago hospital to have a close liason with the affected and thereafter get in for a press briefing. We shall hold a moment of silence in remembrance for the fallen souls of our brothers, our sisters, our fathers, our mothers, and all friends who succumbed to HIV/AIDS here in the country and the world at large,” Igibolu said.
He explained that the main objective of the concert is to create a concrete awareness to all Ugandans and the world in general about the dangers of AIDs, and rally support to end Aids by 2030.
About 30% of concert collection will go along way to media Aids awareness campaign messages.
As of 2016, the estimated HIV prevalence among adults (aged 15 to 49) stood at 6.5%. Women are disproportionately affected, with 7.6% of adult women living with HIV compared to 4.7% of men.
Globally, 39.0 million [33.1–45.7 million] people were living with HIV at the end of 2022. An estimated 0.7% [0.6-0.8%] of adults aged 15–49 years worldwide are living with HIV, although the burden of the epidemic continues to vary considerably between countries and regions
