KING OYO NYIMBA KABAMBA TO CELEBRATE 30TH CORONATION CEREMONY THIS SEPTEMBER

Tooro Kingdom officials have launched the Ekyoto Hampango campaign as part of the preparations for the 29th Coronation anniversary of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, this website has learnt.

The announcement was made by Harriet Nyakake, the first Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Culture and Gender, during a press briefing on Monday at the Kingdom Parliament Hall in Muchwa, Fort Portal City.

Ekyoto Hampango, set to take place on September 13 to 14 at Buhinga Stadium in Fort Portal Tourism City, is a cultural festival aimed at showcasing Tooro’s rich cultural heritage and history. The event will feature a variety of activities, including tourism exhibitions, sports competitions, a music festival, and displays of cultural attire and traditional food.

Nyakake emphasized the importance of the cultural gala, urging the subjects of the King to participate in preserving and celebrating their culture. The festival is expected to be a vibrant celebration, reflecting the pride and traditions of the Tooro Kingdom.

The festivities will culminate in the celebration of King Oyo’s 29th Coronation anniversary on September 12, marking nearly three decades of his reign. The Kingdom is looking forward to a successful and culturally enriching event that will bring together the community and highlight the significance of their heritage.

Rukirabasaija Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV commonly known as King Oyo, is the reigning Omukama of Tooro in Uganda. He was born on 16 April 1992 to King Patrick David Mathew Kaboyo Olimi III and Queen Best Kemigisha Kaboyo.Three and a half years later in 1995, Oyo ascended the throne and succeeded his father to become the 12th ruler of the 180-year-old Kingdom of Tooro.
