MUSEVENI APPOINTS SON CHIEF OF DEFENCE FORCES, WHAT NEXT WITH MUHOOZI KAINERUGABA PRESIDENTIAL BID???

In atactful move aimed to remain in power, President Yoweri Museveni has appointed First Son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the new Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), the highest rank in Uganda’s military force.

Gen Muhoozi who has been the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations replaces Gen Wilson Mbadi, now appointed State Minister for Trade in the new cabinet reshuffle.

However according to Defence spokesperson Brig Felix Kulayigye, Gen Museveni, former Commander in Chief (CiC) of the armed forces Lt Gen Sam Okiding was appointed as the Deputy CDF.

Lt Gen Okiding replaces Gen Peter Elwelu, now appointed Museveni’s Senior Presidential advisor.

Gen Muhoozi was still serving as Presidential advisor in charge of special operations takes over from Gen Wilson Mbadi, who Museveni transferred to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives as Junior minister in charge of trade.

But what does Muhoozi Kainerugaba appointment mean go his presidential 2026 bid?

Reliable sources have intimated to this website that the new appointment will hinder him from engaging in political activities despite Muhoozis recent launch of Patriotic League of Uganda apolitical pressure group.

According to the UPDF Act, the President and commander-in-chief may appoint an officer of the army to be known as the army commander who might assist him in the administration of the army.

Muhoozi Kainerugaba is a Major General in the Uganda People’s Defense Force. He was born on April 24, 1974. (UPDF).

He is in charge of the Special Forces Group, which includes the Presidential Guard Brigade.

The Presidential Guard Brigade is in charge of protecting the President of Uganda and the constitutional monarchs of Uganda.

The Special Forces Group is also in charge of keeping the oil installations in Uganda safe. He is President Yoweri Museveni’s son, and it is said that he is training him to take over after him.

Family: Kainerugaba was born on April 24, 1974, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to Yoweri Museveni, who has been President of Uganda since 1986, and Janet Museveni, who has been the Minister for Karamoja Affairs since May 2011.
