The Italian government has listed Uganda among the top 23 priority African Countries to benefit from the 2.3 billion Euros as development support in the year 2024 to 2026.

The Director General of the Italian Development Cooperation Stefano Gatti made this revelation at on going 45th edition of the Rimini meeting in Italy where the prime minister Robinah Nabbanja is representing the country.

The three year programme comes after the Italian government decided to continue her development support to African countries in what was termed as Italy – Africa Mattei plan of January 2024.

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja is representing Uganda 45th edition of the Rimini meeting in Italy.

The Mattei plan stipulates that African countries will take the lions share 65% , Middle East 14%, Asia 5%, middle East 14%, Latin and Central America , the Balkans , Eastern Europe 12%.

The Prime Minister who is also accompanied by the Agriculture State Minister Fred Bwino Kyakulaga ,Executive Director of the Uganda Investment Authority Robert Mukiza highlighted the potential benefits the Italians could leap out of Uganda once they invest in the country.

Italy and Uganda relations dates wayback in 1910 when the Comboni missionaries arrived in Uganda and engaged in a number of development agenda.
